Hi, I’m Carol – a feltmaker,  embroiderer & painter, teaching feltmaking and embroidery workshops around south London.  I thrive on continuous learning, adding new skills and extending the range of my textile knowledge through courses with some brilliant, well-known tutors as well as through travel, most recently across northern India, Scandinavia & the Shetland Islands.

At my workshops you will spend time with like-minded souls who also want to kickstart their creativity, or just get away from screens and housework for a bit!   You will work with beautiful materials, feel productive, positive and focussed, then go home with some lovely, tactile,  handmade items for yourself or to give as gifts. You can also buy handmade workshop gift vouchers for friends – ideal for someone who doesn’t want to accumulate any more ‘stuff’ but would enjoy learning something new themelves.

I love sharing and passing on my skills, enabling others to use colour and fibre to express creativity, warmth and positive feelings.  It’s been proven that getting creative and using your hands reduces stress and enlivens the mind, so learning new craft skills is one of the best things you can do to balance out the downsides of hectic modern life.

I work with numerous community groups to help aid social cohesion and reduce isolation through communal, creative activity.  Everyone goes home feeling more empowered and connected.

I am also part of textile collective  ‘Women of the Cloth’ with whom I take part in exhibitions, events and festivals several times a year.  Women of the Cloth enjoy getting together to talk textiles, combine ideas, share our  knowledge and visit textile exhibitions.  Look out for forthcoming activities on our News & Events page, as well as interesting articles about other textile artists, exhibitions, etc.
